Our Methodology

Our Ethos
Youth for Common Sense was founded because we were disappointed by the lack of cooperation and the increasing rise of partisan politics. As a Political Action Committee it is our goal to fight back against these dangerous tactics and focus on electing members of the House of Representatives focused on working across the aisle to better everyday Americans lives and stop playing partisan politics.

We are actively seeking candidates who not only have a realistic chance of winning in competitive races but also prioritize bipartisanship, a core value of our PAC. These individuals must embody the principles of collaboration and a commitment to working across party lines for the betterment of all Americans. We will work diligently to support candidates who are interested in fostering genuine bipartisan cooperation.
How it works in practice
-
In order for a candidate to be chosen by us they must show a willingness to collaborate across the aisle and work with members of both parties to improve common sense goals.
-
We measure bipartisanship and willingness to work across the aisle for incumbents by the number of bills cosponsored by members of the other party and membership to groups such as the “Problem Solvers Caucus”. For candidates who have not previously held office in the House of Representatives we will investigate the policies and promises to see whether they are committed to working across the aisle.
-
We will prioritize supporting candidates in races where there is a tight competition between moderates and extremists, as indicated by election ratings. Additionally to continue to foster bipartisanship on both sides of the aisle we will split donations 50/50 between democrat moderates and republican moderates.
-
Once this process has been completed we will post to our website with a list of candidates and why we have decided to donate.
